These services can be tailored to the home environment, including nursing and respite care, domestic help, home maintenance, social support and personal care.
The experienced Blue Haven team can advise on which services will best meet your current needs, with the flexibility to change in future. Our team offers the very best in continuous in home support care services in a relaxed, attentive and caring way.
Our personal care service includes assisting people with showering, dressing, toileting, shaving, hair care, assisting with mobility, helping put on stockings, splints or callipers, monitoring self-medication and prompting to undertake a planned exercise program.
We offer one-on-one respite to give a carer time to themselves, via a volunteer or paid worker.
Our team is able to assist with domestic tasks if you are finding them difficult to manage on your own. This includes cleaning (floors, bathrooms and kitchens), changing bed linen and doing laundry. We can also assist with shopping for essential items and bill paying.

Taking care of the outside of a home often requires physical strength and can be difficult to maintain if mobility is limited or you are unwell. We offer regular lawn mowing or one-off assistance with garden maintenance, yard and garden clean up or rubbish removal, minor repairs and maintenance to dwellings, basic carpentry, small painting jobs, and basic plumbing such as replacing washers and minor leaks.
Interaction with others
If you live alone, our team offers friendly visiting to keep you company. We can also assist with reading correspondence, and card and letter writing.

Customised packaged care for aged care
Blue Haven can provide you with a Home Care Package which is tailored to meet your needs and provides you with choice and control over the services you access. People need to be assessed by a member of the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to receive a Home Care Package. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to organise an assessment or go to the My Aged Care website for more information.
A range of services may be provided under a Home Care Package, including:
- personal services – help with showering or bathing, dressing and mobility
- Support services – help with washing and ironing, house cleaning, gardening and basic home maintenance, and transport to do the shopping, visit the doctor, or attend other social activities
- Clinical care – including nursing and other allied health support such as physiotherapy, and hearing and vision services.
Eligibility for Blue Haven Community Services
Eligibility is based on an assessment of individual circumstances against funding guidelines. To receive a service clients must be frail aged or a carer of a person who is frail aged. Blue Haven services are provided for people living in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. Since 1 July 2015, people seeking aged care services must contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to be assessed.
